What does it take to have “the perfect game?” Every athlete of any sport knows what those three words mean, and they may spend their entire career trying to have that one flawless performance. Many young athletes have trouble with consistency in sports performances, and have no clue why. They may come into the season in great shape, possessing the well-refined skills that there sport requires, having a solid game plan intact, having eaten well and getting antiquate sleep all week, but still having inconsistency during competition. What is the missing ingredient? The answer lies within the skull. Sports psychology is one of the most overlooked and underrated aspects of sports performances. Many psychological factors, such as memory, focus, arousal level, anxiety and stress can drastically effect a sports performance.
Attention in Sport
According to William James, attention is “the taking possession by mind in clear and vivid form, of one out of what seem several simultaneous possible objects or trains of thought.” (Huang & Lynch, 1992)
Memory can be held in one of three basic systems. The sensory regular system holds large amounts of information for a short period of time. Long-term memory holds smaller amounts of information for a long period of time, and the short-term memory system is the crossroad between the two. (Cox, 1998) To put these in perspective, the long-term memory would hold a skill, such as dribbling a basketball. The short-term memory would hold the scouting report of the opposing team. The sensory regular system would be responsible for in game awareness, such as the tempo of the game and adjusting to opposing player’s strengths. Read more... It would an exercise in denial to try to say that online degree programs are not seen with an eye of dismissal. It is thought that the online program inherently is the product of a manipulative institution and marketed towards individuals not possessing the abilities to find success in the traditional setting of classrooms in America’s major universities. This is an antiquated mindset and one that is changing everyday.
In fact, quality programs I such areas as psychology have several excellent online psychology degrees, even at the PhD level. In general any psychology degree should be preparing individuals to practice psychoanalytic counseling to their patients, through the various disciplines within the field, such as, self-analysis, dream analysis, personality theory, psychodynamic theory, developmental processes, among many others. Online psychology degrees are able to offer these in both theoretical consideration as well as considering the applications of these.
The online psychology degree programs are an excellent option (not alternative, as many times they can be an equal or even preferable choice) for working professionals. Especially those that have studied psychology at the bachelor level already or have been working within the psychological and/or medical fields. One reason for this due to the fact that many of the other students in the online degree program will also have this real world experience to upon, which leads to more sophisticated and applications-based discussions and learning.

Imagine a child of one and half years of age playing with his toys, this child would not interact with other children except may be scream if one of the child takes his toy. At this age the child does not have the capacity to take into consideration others point of view, but as he grows up to be six or seven, he will engage in group play and understand different people’s perspective and progressively as he enters into his teens he would feel the need to develop positive human relation-ships (Hetherington et al, 2006). The intriguing question is what accounts for this progressive and steady evolution of the child’s ability to perceive and describe complex relationships and learn new things efficiently? The quest for its answer and research into the area has lead to the inception of the field of developmental psychology (Papers4you.com, 2006).
Developmental psychology is the scientific study of progressive psychological changes that transpire in human beings as they age (Margaret & Butterworth, 2002). Child development is its rapidly emerging sub-field of study, which seeks to account for the gradual evolution of the Childs’s cognitive, social and other capacities, first by describing changes in the child’s observed behaviours and then by uncovering the process and strategies that underlie these changes (Hetherington et al, 2006, p4). Although field has seen rapid developments recently, it’s relatively young with the first theories coming up just a century ago. Read more... (558 words, estimated 2:14 mins reading time)

The aim of my work is to investigate the essence of both psychological egoism and hedonism, and to reach the objections raised up by Feinberg. Acting this way, I have several purposes. First, I will give a basic definition of psychological egoism, altruism and hedonism. Then, I will present my personal vision as for the notion of psychological egoism, giving in details my three-level method. Finally, I will discuss the objections Feinberg has as for this point. My purpose is to manage to do all enumerated above and still meet the space limitations suggested for this writing.
So, I started my research for this paper. I tried to give a fairly straight forward definition of altruism, psychological egoism and hedonism. Then I realized that that was not so easy I thought before. Certainly, there turned to be too much depth in these concepts to be adequately covered in a paper of this format. Thus, I decided to provide only basics, short and clear definitions based on a synthetic analysis of the readings reviewed.
Psychological Egoism
Psychological Egoism presupposes that the only ultimate objectives one may cherish are self-directed ones. This means that, your original motivation will always be your own self-interests no matter what you do. What shapes these self-interests can gain is a matter of discussion.
Hedonism

Your physical food relationship is based on your eating habits and food preference, while your psychological food relationship is related to how you think about food and its effect on your weight and body image.
Your psychological food relationship begins to dominate when you succumb to eating to satisfy your appetite instead of your hunger, which is a physical need to supply your body with nutrients.
Your appetite, not your hunger, is in control when you decide to eat a to-die-for dessert even though you have just finished eating a hearty meal. Indulging your appetite to satisfy your eating pleasure rather than your physical hunger is an unhealthy psychological food relationship.
What make you form a psychological food relationship?
You may remember a pleasant experience with a specific food, thereby triggering your appetite. In addition, your emotions, positive or negative, can trigger your appetite. For example, an occasion for celebration may induce you to indulge your appetite and eat for sheer pleasure; isolation, loneliness, and depression may lead you to overeating.
It must be understood that self-defeating thoughts and unhealthy eating behaviors only perpetuate unhealthy emotions and bring on another food-addiction episode, thereby forming a vicious circle of uncontrollable eating. Unless you recognize and acknowledge the trigger, which is often the emotion itself, you will continue to overeat.

Understanding a Psychologist
Psychologists use their skill and expertise in various fields like management, health, law, education and even sports. This is because people from every field need counseling and psychological help. Essentially, a psychologist should have very good communication and interpersonal skills.
As a psychologist, you should be able to connect emotionally with patients to help them deal with their problems. What any individual psychologist does depends on their level of expertise and interest. A school or clinical psychologist or one with a private practice can set their own hours. They do not have to work long hours like the psychologists who work with hospital and government organizations do.
Another aspect of a psychologist’s job is conducting tests and experiments. These help them to understand their patients and their behavior.
Training and Education
It is not enough to just have formal training – it is important to back up that training with experience and practice in the field. A graduate degree is a must for every psychologist; a bachelor’s degree in a particular field of expertise to be precise is mandatory. People who want to become school psychologists have to earn special degrees by completing three years of graduate school and a one year internship.
Those who want to become clinical psychologists or counseling psychologists with a private practice and those who want to get into teaching or research require a doctorate or PhD after their Masters degree. This takes up to seven years to acquire. Read more... (523 words, estimated 2:06 mins reading time)

It’s fascinating how color psychology can influence anyone’s actions and behavior. In this article, you’ll discover some amazing ways to persuade people and skyrocket your profits using the power of color psychology.
If you want your product to represent power and authority, use black in your graphics and promotions. It is also a color of elegance and class, so this is also an ideal color to use if you’re selling high-priced quality materials. However, black may also represent evil or mystery, so be wary when using this color.
White symbolizes innocence and cleanliness. Medical people wear white to signify sterility. White is a neutral color that blends easily with any other color, but it is bland if used more than necessary. Use “white” if you want your products to represent neatness or purity.
Red arouses strong emotions and excitement. It grabs attention, that’s why most marketers who know color psychology use red in their headlines. Red is an extreme color that evokes passion, love and bravery. Red stimulates appetite, so it’s a good color theme if you have a food or restaurant business. If you want your prospects to feel excited about your product, especially if your product is related to love and romance, use red.
